Austin Show July 14 *MORE TICKETS ADDED TO GOMEZ TICKETING SITE*
In looking at our July tourdates with the Fray, we noticed there was a gaping hole in our calendar, a "day off" in Texas on a Saturday. So we will be playing a very special gig - our sole headlining gig on this run - at the intimate Parish in Austin, Texas on Saturday, July 14th. A presale is available now at our ticketing site here: http://gomeztickets.musictoday.com/Gomez/calendar.aspx. Tickets go on sale to the public on Saturday, June 2.

New Dates, New Zealand
Gomez continues their steamroll across the U.S. when they play the Wiltern tonight in Los Angeles. Reports from the road have been stellar - lots of old songs are finding their way into the set. They even played "Rosalita" for the first time ever in Petaluma the other night.
We are extending our Australasian "Southern Nights" tour a couple extra days in April for some New Zealand gigs, our first in three years! We'll be playing the Civic in Christchurch, the appropriately named San Francisco Bath House in Wellington, and the Powerstation in Auckland.
We are also doing a short run of dates in the U.S. this July supporting the Fray in a handful of amphitheatres - some of the venues, as you can see below, are still TBD. Playing with The Fray allows us to play New Mexico for the very first time. There are still states out there that we must deflower, and we will get there. One. By. One. Following those July dates, we will be taking some time off before we begin work on our next studio album this fall.

Gomez Goes Greener
As we head down the congested freeways of the Southern California highway system, our bus exhales a smell not unlike french fries. Once again, we have teamed up with our friends at CLIF Bar and their GreenNotes program to green our tour and reduce the environmental impact that we have out on the road. Since October, we're filling up the tour bus with biodiesel and offsetting the remainder of our carbon dioxide emissions, among other things.
To date, Gomez and GreenNotes supporters have pledged to remove over 8.8 Million lbs of CO2, the primary greenhouse gas causing global warming (that's the same amount of CO2 that would have been produced by over 700 cars or 358 homes this past year based on EPA estimates).
As a way to create more awareness about what we're doing, we're offering a nightly contest each show of the tour at the merch booth. There's also a grand prize, the "El Gomez Verde Grande Prize", that we will award at the end of the tour. The prize package includes a new commuter bike, a Timbuk2 messenger bag made from recycled materials, signed Gomez goods and lots of other fun stuff. For more info, and to enter to win the grand prize, please go to http://clifgreennotes.com. There's also a little vid up on YouTube that the CLIF Bar peeps made when we were in San Francisco in October.

Up On Cripple Creek
We recorded a version of The Band's "Up on Cripple Creek" for "Endless Highway: The Music of The Band", the tribute record that came our this week. We recorded the track last June at a studio outside Philly, and Tom was essentially rotten drunk by the time it came to record his verse. Somehow it works just fine. Gomez Live iTunes Session EP
Hope all of you are in the middle of restful and cheery holidays. We're kicking it with our feet up in front of the fire, the bellows within arms' reach.
The night before the band played San Francisco's Warfield Theatre last October, they went into Soundworks Studios and laid down some tracks. One thing led to another and at about 6 AM, the band ventured into the daylight with a nice EP under their belts. The 6 track set, is now exclusively available for purchase at the U.S. iTunes store (you need a US credit card to get it). The EP should be available shortly after the New Year in Europe and Australia - we are just as frustrated with this as you may be..the bureaucracy is maddening, but it will be available soon!
Click here to go directly to the EP.
The track listing is as follows:
1) Get Miles (Ben solo)
2) Rex Kramer
3) How We Operate
4) A Song For Lovers in Between The Wars (Tom solo)
5) See the World
6) Whippin' Piccadilly
Some notes: Get Miles is just Ben solo and it's wicked. The radically rearranged Rex Kramer, How We Operate and Whippin' Piccadilly features our crack horn combo (as seen at NYC's Bowery Ballroom shows and the Warfield), and A Song For Lovers in Between the Wars is a brand new song, composed and performed solo by Tom.

2007 Tourdates Part Deux
We are pleased to announce the first dates of a co-headliing tour with ATO Records labelmate Ben Kweller. Gomez will be closing each show and playing a full set, but definitely get there early and catch BK - he is the real deal.
The tour begins in mid-February with a string of dates on the West Coast - we are returning to places we haven't been to since last spring like Portland, San Diego and Los Angeles, as well as returns to Vancouver and Seattle (we love it there, we just couldn't stay away). We play several dates sans Ben Kweller - a return to the Mystic Theatre in Petaluma and (hopefully) snowy Park City and Aspen - before meeting up with him again in Texas and playing dates in the Midwest and East Coast. Those dates will be announced in early January. Colorado fans - note the Aspen date is our sole appearance in your lovely state.
We have also added one date January 23 in Charlottesville, Virginia. It is our only headlining appearance in the middle of the O.A.R. tour.
TICKETS for all West Coast (and Park City/Aspen) shows are available NOW in a limited presale. All shows go on sale to the public on the weekend of January 5/6 except Vancouver, which goes on sale Thursday, December 21 via Ticketmaster and all the usual outlets.

Gomez 2007 Tourdates
We have seen the message board concerns for our health as we continue to tour the globe. We appreciate the sympathy, but we take good care of ourselves, more than we let on. Are you aware of the pure oxygen pumped into our tourbus sleep pods every night? Did you know about our personal trainer Rajiv, who puts us through a rigorous calisthenics routine every morning? And Olly's bionic arm has been working great since the operation. Plug it in for a couple hours and she's just like new, and none of those tempo issues. With these advantages under our wings, we head onwards into 2007 with new dates a plenty.
Ben Ottewell played his first solo gig to a sold out crowd in Brighton, UK last summer, and he'll play a handful of solo dates in Europe in early January - four gigs in the Netherlands and a date at The Borderline in London. He'll be playing mostly Gomez material, some choice covers, and who knows what else. Ben's also playing a gig in his hometown of Derbyshire on December 29 in at the Fishpond.
The band then comes over to the States for eight dates supporting the band O.A.R. at different theatres and arenas, ending in at Madison Square Garden in New York CIty on January 27. In addition, we'll be doing a run of headlining U.S. dates in February and March, to be announced in a couple weeks.
We've also just announced our return to Australia in April. We'll be playing a mix of headlining dates and festivals including the East Coast Blues & Roots Festival in Byron Bay, the West Coast Blues & Roots Fest in Perth, and the Great Escape in Sydney. We'll also be hitting Canberra for the first time and are trying to arrange for a return to New Zealand. We'll advise on this shortly.
Full show info on theGIGS page.

Gomez Goes Green
With the help of Clif Bar (a natural food company in the U.S.), we're trying to reduce the environmental impact of our tour. We're using biodiesel to fuel our tourbus, and we're purchasing wind energy credits to offset the carbon dioxide emissions created from our tour. This is something we're very excited about, but the real potential for collective change lies with you - please visit http://www.clifgreennotes.com/c to learn more, join us in action, and download an exclusive live Gomez track.Tue Sep 26
JIMMY BUFFETT, UKULELE COMRADE
a note from Tom:
Aloha my friends!
We love the ukulele. No Gomez bus travels without said weapon. At the moment we have a bright red uke-guitar that rides proudly amongst us, ready to be plucked at any moment of carefree willing. Ukulele love is shared by many a musician. The late George Harrison would travel with two as he believed you can always find someone to play with.
The power of the uke should never be underestimated. Wars avoided, worlds collide. The ukulele was the first musical instrument in space. Today musical miles are straddled: Gomez and Jimmy Buffett, an unlikely musical partnership, but one infused with a love of the humblest of musical tools. A gentle strum and simple song. All hail the ukulele!!
Jimmy Buffett will release his 32nd record, "Take the Weather With You," Oct. 10 on RCA Records. The album reportedly features guest vocals from Gomez on the title track.Thu Sep 21

New York X 3: Gomez at the Bowery Ballroom
As the band hurtles across the globe on a 23 hour flight to Australia, heavily sedated by whatever sleeping aids weren't confiscated in the security queue, we thought it we be a good time to announce a three-night stand in NYC!
Gomez will be performing three nights at New York City's venerable Bowery Ballroom -- October 5, 6 and 7. As we head towards the end of 2006, Gomez will be coming on ten years of performing together and so the time is nigh for a couple of throwdown gigs. These will be unique shows -- a deep immersion into the Gomez repertoire, additional musicians perhaps, and plenty of mayhem. In a couple weeks we'll be announcing a special West Coast event as well, so stay tuned.
We are offering a limited number of three-night tickets - a reduced price for all three nights - exclusively at Gomez's online ticketing site. These tickets are available beginning tomorrow TUESDAY at noon EST. Individual show tickets go on sale to the public via TicketWeb beginning Wednesday, August 23 at 12 NOON EST.
We'll be announcing the rest of our fall tour -- both U.S. and U.K. dates -- over the next week. And if you're in Australia, tickets still remain for Gomez's third show in Melbourne, third show in Sydney and their Newcastle gig, but we expect them to sell out within the week.
Wed Aug 16

Tour Updates
After two epic festival sets at Oxegen (Ireland) and T in the Park (Scotland) last weekend, and the decidedly more mellow Latitude Festival a couple days ago, the Gomez touring machine winds down for a three week holiday. It takes that much time to build up stamina for far-off shows in exotic locales like Hungary, Portugal, and...Australia.
Yessir, we'll be heading to Australia playing nine dates from August 24th through September 6th. The band will take in all capital cities, plus play Darwin and Newcastle for the first time. Special guests for all shows will be The Vasco Era. Tickets for the tour are on sale now.
After Australia, we head back to the States for a bunch of shows, most notably the Austin City Limits Festival, a band favorite. In Austin, we play not once but twice --- a daytime set as well as a nightime show with Guster at La Zona Rosa that goes on sale this weekend. We'll also be supporting a couple of shows with Matisyahu and playing a couple of headline dates as well (to be announced next week).
Then a quick break and we're touring through the States (and Canada!) through the month of October. There's a few very special events happening during the October tour, and we look to announce those dates in early August.

Mezprint
Lots of reviews are beginning to flow in...here's a sampling of what the U.S. and Australian press are saying about the album:
"How We Operate" is the finest and most listener-friendly album of Gomez's 10-year career. The disc buoys with clipping rhythms, infectious lyricism, country infusions and distinctive vocal harmonies is what makes "How We Operate" so exceptional is the simple brilliance of the songs." - Billboard
"Gomez embrace the art of chilling out from the easy-breezy vibe of the opener 'Notice' to the reserved elegance of 'Charlie Patton Songs,' the guys let their seasoned songwriting and warm melodies stand alone." - Filter Magazine
"Above all, this is most certainly a Gomez record, one they couldn't possibly have created earlier; its maturity and confidence offer a new dimension to a sound that's already full of complexity, paradox, and a pronounced, now intractable, identity." - Allmusic
"The record is a perfect example of Gomez at their best, the sort of orgasmic rock that builds with gentle acoustic foreplay before building to soaring, anthemic feel-good climaxes." Brisbane Courier Mail (sorry - had to include that one for laughs).

Welcome!
Like space junk floating, the detritus of nearly a decade of abandoned websites. Fired into the inky blackness by record companies hellbent on marketing their latest release. One Gomez site after the next. Champagne broken down its sides only to turn into a ghost site with no one at the helm.... but what's this sailing over the horizon, stretching the analogy to the edge of stupidity... GOMEZTHEBAND.COM! Our site, not the label's, not a fan's site. Content updated by us, regularly. We no longer have to ring someone up at business affairs to find out if we can play with some pixels.
Over the course of next month we'll be adding full band biographies (with gear lists for knob tweakers), an a/v gallery dripping with rare photos, audio and vids, and a completist's discography with all EPs, singles, soundtracks, etc. On top of all that there'll be a mini music player previewing tracks from the new album. Hazard! I know it all sounds too good to be true, but I promise you, this time the buck stops with us, so feel free to get on our backs if it's not living up to expectations. I think you'll find there's plenty of features to keep you up to date with our activity, but more importantly, use this space: check out the message boards in the community section, send site feedback to our webmistress, come back and visit often. The band lives here now.
Tally-ho me hearties! Away! love, Tom of HMS Gomez (still trying to work out if I'm the captain or the ship's cat)Thu Mar 02

Full tracklisting is up on the Disco page.Wed Mar 01
"Out West" nominated for Live Album of the Year
Gomez received a nomination for the 6th Annual Jammy Awards in the Live Album of the Year category for "Out West." There's strong competition for the award (Wilco, The Mars Volta), but as this is a populist affair, you can VOTE for GOMEZ and help anoint them in this most exalted category. The award ceremony will take place on April 20 at the Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City.Tue Feb 28
